Description:
Performed a contamination assessment, subsurface investigation, UST compliance
history, and Clean-up Fund application preparation for the past and present
gasoline tanks at the site. The project included direct involvement with the
CTDEP and local fire marshal to determine the status of past and present
operations and problems. A remedial action plan was developed and prepared,
including remediation system design and specifications, and recommendations for
upgrading UST operations to meet current regulations and requirements.
Based on the findings of the investigations, an aggressive remediation system
was designed to remediate the groundwater and soil on the subject site and
potential off-site contamination. The remediation included air and oxygen
sparging, soil vapor extraction, bioremediation, and pump and treat with air
stripping with GAC polishing. The system design was presented to the CTDEP and
UST Clean Up Fund Review Board and approved for reimbursement as a Third Party.
The remediation system was installed and start up completed in February 1997,
with continued operation and maintenance, along with ongoing groundwater
monitoring.
