Restaurant DES was retained by the site owner to perform a Phase I/II investigation in anticipation of bank requirements for refinancing the property. The Phase II portion of the investigation indicated the presence of low concentrations of fuel oil contamination in the vicinity of a 550-gallon underground storage tank (UST) used for heating purposes. The tank was subsequently removed and replaced with an aboveground storage tank (AST). Approximately 40 tons of contaminated soil from the UST grave was excavated and transported off-site for thermal treatment. Post remedial groundwater monitoring was performed for one year to comply with the Remediation Standard Regulations. |
